2013 Inden Design Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Borrasca
Hidden behind the name “Borasca” is the Spanish designation for storm and thunderstorm. And in the case of this gorgeous interpretation of an open Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG by the company INDEN Design, this term fits like a glove, because with his reconstruction, Joachim Inden has conquered the fans of the trademark with the star, by storm.
It was surely not an easy task to modify the design of an almost perfect roadster right from the factory without endangering the proportions and the sense of harmony of the curvy lines of the bodywork. To avoid falling into this trap, Joachim Inden opted for a good number of minor but highly effective modifications of the sophisticated outer shell of the SLS AMG roadster. For an optimized aerodynamics – i.e. more contact pressure at the front – INDEN Design also integrated a new bumper bar in this position in addition to an individual front spoiler lip made completely of high-grade carbon fiber tissue and a new engine hood. The side silhouette of the SLS “Borrasca” stands out not just for its new mud guard with inserts of carbon fibers and black fins but also for the completely new side skirts with rear air shaft. Even in the rear, Joachim Inden has applied exclusive carbon fiber in the new rear apron including diffuser. The processing of exhaust gas is realized through a stainless steel sports exhaust system with flap control, having original AMG end-pipes.
The power of the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG roadster that has been boosted to 635 Horse Power is pressed on the road surface through a set of classical light alloy rims with ten arched double spokes. In combination with a decent lowering of approx. 15 mm, the wheel set fills the wheel houses of the SLS perfectly well in the format 10.5×21 inches for the front and 11.5×21 inches for the rear. INDEN Design has mounted Continental tires in the formats 265/30/21 and 295/25/21 to match.

Wheelsandmore presents their refined version of the Mercedes-Benz SL500 R231 and sets the first exclamation point into the direction of the tuning community. In their specialty, the production of tailor-made, multi-part forged rims, the fine tuner installed the maximum possible wheel sizes of the type 6Sporz 2 in the dimensions 9,5 x20″ with 245/30/20 at the front and at the rear 11,0 x20″ with 295/25 Continental Sport Contact 5P tires. Although the wheels could be configured in nearly unlimited color and surface finish combinations, Wheelsandmore adapted them to the overall picture, with matt black wheel center, combined with robust and easy-care stainless steel outer rims.

The claim of race-car conversion is completed by using an in compression and rebound adjustable KW coilover suspension.

The GLK 250 BlueTEC 4MATIC boasts the most powerful four-cylinder diesel engine in the SUV world. The direct-injection engine rated at 150 kW (204 hp) and generating 500 Newton metres of torque from 2143 cc enables the GLK to perform superbly. Key merits are the engine’s torquey character, its top speed and its flexibility. Despite its formidable performance, this GLK model is extremely frugal when it comes to fuel consumption: on average, the compression-ignition engine consumes 6.1 to 6.5 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres (combined NEDC fuel consumption, provisional figure). CO2 emissions stand at 159-169 grams per kilometre. Similarly to the GLK 220 BlueTEC 4MATIC model, it also complies with the EU6 emissions standard and the US BIN 5 standard.

The two rear-wheel drive models GLK 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and GLK 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY with six-speed manual transmission are even more fuel-efficient. Both versions get by on 5.5 – 5.6 litres of diesel per hundred kilometres (143 – 147 g CO2/km). The top performer among the diesel versions is the GLK 350 CDI 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY. 620 Newton metres of torque provide the V6 compression-ignition engine with exceptional power delivery from low revs.
The GLK 350 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY petrol-engine model makes its mark with the groundbreaking technology of the leading generation of V engines from Mercedes-Benz. At the heart of the BlueDIRECT technology package lies the third-generation spray-guided direct petrol engine with piezo injectors. In combination with multi-spark ignition, this technology offers further potential for fuel savings.
